In early 1996 a task force was set up by the Curriculum Division of the Department of Curriculum Development and Evaluation, Ministry of Education to come up with a computer awareness syllabus for the three-year junior secondary schools. The process of syllabus development was started with a consultancy which looked into the logistics for the development and implementation of the programme. The three-year junior secondary school syllabus was launched in April 1997. The modules in the syllabus include: computer skills, keyboarding skills, productivity tools, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and graphics.
